Desktop Tablet Presses
Over the last 10 years, the goal of LFA has been to provide the resources necessary to get your tableting project moving forward. Our Desktop Tablet Press range is incredibly popular among small businesses and entrepreneurs because of the low costs and ability to produce up to 5,000 tablets an hour. These machines pay for themselves very quickly for those reasons. Our TDP range is also very popular among R&D departments and universities due to a low minimum running powder, low running costs and the ability to change tooling very quickly which makes R&D very easy.
If you have at least one idea that you think could have some traction behind it but don’t have the time to learn how to use a tablet press, rest assured. Every purchase on any LFA machinery comes with free training at LFA and within just a few hours you’ll know everything you will need to know. Training can be done at an LFA facility, your location or over Skype. We also have a video and article section which has helped some of our customers go from not knowing where to get started, to setting up and running successful businesses such as Oxford Vitality & Bite.
Rotary Tablet Presses
While Desktop Tablet Presses like the TDP 5 is capable of doing 5,000 tablets per hour, they are not designed to this all the time. Rotary Tablet Press, however, are designed for incredible output and efficiency in large batches. These machines are capable of producing 16,000 - 240,000 tablets per hour depending on your budget and are designed to keep downtime low so that you can have your machine running and making you money as much as possible.
We offer unlimited operator training and support for life. If you do run into a problem with your machine, simply pick up the phone and one of our experts will figure out the problem is and what needs to be done to get production running again.
Over the years by far the biggest problems our customers have is getting their tablet mix correct. When you are just starting out it can often take weeks or months to learn and test different excipients and it’s very expensive to do this. We saw too many amazing projects fail for making this mistake which is why we created Firmapress, an all in one tableting mix where you simply apply your active ingredient and know for certain that it will work. This way you can start taking orders or developing your formula as soon as you get your machine and generate essential cash flow and progress your project very quickly.
Customers working in large scale facilities and with more complicated formulas do sometimes prefer to use their own excipient mixes, which we do support with our excipient range as well as Firmapress.
Vice Handheld Press
It used to be the biggest problem with R&D was costs. It would cost thousands to get your ideas into the real world with no guarantee that they had any traction behind them. Developed by LFA, the VICE is cheaper and easier to use than anything in the world for pressing high-quality tablets that look like they have come off the packaging line.
With just a small investment, you can take all of your ideas from just ideas to something real that you can hold in your hand. From there you can test the results, improve your formulas and find out what the world thinks about them before spending any serious money.
Tablet Press Tooling
The supplement and pharmaceutical industries are some of the hardest to stand out from the competition. To help you stand out, we’ve created an easy process for ordering tooling completely unique to your brand with a quote instantly available. We have a long list of high quality, standard tooling which is kept in stock ready to be shipped the same or next working day, or we can make custom tooling for you in 4-6 weeks.
We also store your tooling specifications so that you can re-order with our 1 click re-ordering system to make the process as quick and efficient as possible and to keep downtime to a minimum.
We take the most common problems our customers contact us about and make articles out of the solutions. If you ever get stuck, it’s worth checking here as we have hundreds of really useful and detailed articles on both simple and advanced capsuling techniques.
A big factor in choosing your Rotary Tablet Press will be the batch sizes you intend to produce with it.
While it might seem that the machine with the most output should finish every batch size in first, the table below demonstrates that is not the case.
The larger the machine the more parts there are to clean meaning the higher the labour costs.
Over the years we have seen a lot of entrepreneurs with unique ideas buy small machines like the TDP 5 or the DTP 25 to do R&D and they often develop into really successful businesses. One of those companies is Bite and its founder, Lindsay. Lindsay created a toothpaste tablet that is preventing mountains of empty toothpaste cartons from building up each week in landfills or oceans. In summer 2018, women's health released this promotional video
In the pharmaceutical industry, sieves and screens are commonly used in determining the size of the raw materials. The most common way to measure the sieves and screens is by meshes. On the average, about 40 to 400 sieves are used in the industry especially during the milling and sifting of the raw materials.
Multi-tip tooling equipment is not new in tablet making, in fact it has been used for more than a century. In the early years 1900s single station tablet presses could be fitted with multi-tip punches that could press two or more tablets at a time to help increase the production rate and at the same time lower labour costs, energy, reduce maintenance and conserve factory space.
Detailed articles are great, but some of us prefer to see how things are done. At LFA we have hundreds of tutorial how-to styled videos ranging from how to create a tablet mix, all the way to how to change the tooling. If you’re new to tableting, this section could be the most important asset in getting started.
